“Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding.” Proverbs 2:2

Proverbs 1:7 tells us the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. The fear of God for a Believer is different than for an unbeliever. We’re called to have a reverent fear of the Lord which means having an attitude of deep respect and love towards Him while walking in humility and obedience. Because the Father wants to lavish His love upon us, we can boldly enter His Throne and access His wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, and power for our daily needs.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. So let us come boldly to the Throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”(1 John 3:1, Hebrews 4:16)

When we receive wisdom from God, it’s extremely important that we get revelation and understanding according to His ways, not ours. This is why Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:17, “I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and revelation so that you might grow in your knowledge of Him.” God told us that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. When we strive to know Him better, we’ll understand better which path to take.

God will let us know the plans He has for us ahead of our journey for encouragement—but we’re not meant to receive the blueprints to build it until we’ve gone through the necessary lessons and passed all our tests. Unfortunately, we sometimes rush ahead of His plans, forgetting His ways are better. God showed me a powerful illustration using a game of chess for what happens when we don’t involve Him in our plans. However, because of the extravagant love of our Father God, He won’t let us get knocked out of the game when we make a bad move. He’ll just reposition us!

The minute we step out from under God’s Will we open ourselves up to demonic deceptions, obstacles, and detours. But God won’t abandon us, He’ll counter every demonic move until He checkmates our adversary and gets us back on His planned path. If we find ourselves in one of these chess matches, we must understand that God isn’t the cause of the terrible things happening. He’s always one step ahead ready to outmaneuver our opponent’s next move. God doesn’t initiate this chess match, we set it up with our ignorance and disobedience. God doesn’t want us constantly being redirected and blocked by the Darkness when He gave us the Light to help guide us along our path.

So how do we walk in God’s wisdom? It begins with knowledge, which is information and skills acquired through experience and study. In short, we first need to read His Word, and then we spend time daily in praise, worship, and conversation with Him. How this looks for each of us is purely personal based on our living situation. But be encouraged, if time is a rare commodity for you, God is the maker of time, and He’ll help you to find a space to seek His Face! Finally, look for Bible study groups, teachers, and mentors for continual understanding, guidance and counsel.

Friends, we’re going to slip up on our journey, but Jesus wants us to know there’s no condemnation when we reach out to Him. He’ll take away our fear, shame, humiliation, regret, and insecurities. He’ll make all things new and even erase all our past mistakes. How do I know this? Because He told us in His Words below:

“I have gone into your future to prepare the way, and in kindness, I follow behind you to spare you from the harm of your past. With My hand of love upon your life, I will impart a blessing to you. I will restore everything you lost; I will have compassion on you; I will come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, I, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. I, your God, will cut away the thick calluses on your heart and your children’s hearts, freeing you to love Me with your whole heart and soul and live, really live. Who is like God, who pardons wrongdoing and passes over a rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. He will again take pity on us; He will trample on our wrongdoings. Yes, He will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” (Psalm 139:5-6, Deuteronomy 30:1-5, Psalm 42:5-7, Micah 7:18-19)

ABOUT Marie Scinto
Marie Scinto "You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in God’s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am God’s girl!
