“Now acquaint yourself with Him and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.” Job 22:21
To be guided properly, we need to know His voice, but more importantly His Spirit. We can easily be deceived by similar sounding voices but knowing His Spirit intimately will help to distinguish the genuine from the counterfeit. Therefore, we must daily pursue Him, acquaint ourselves with His Word, and keep being filled with His light.
A.W. Tozer wrote in God’s Pursuit of Man, “Before we can be filled with the Spirit, the desire to be filled must be all-consuming. It must be for the time the biggest thing in life, so acute, so intrusive as to crowd out everything else.”
If we want to be filled with the Spirit, we must give Him unyielding occupancy in every part of our lives and allow Him to guide us. One of the biggest hindrances to a Spirit-filled life is disregarding the importance of prioritizing our relationship with Jesus. When we stand with Jesus — He will stand with us.
John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things and remind you of all that I said to you.”
Tozer writes, “The Holy Spirit is a living Person and should be treated as a person. We must never think of Him as a blind energy nor as an impersonal force. He hears and sees and feels as any person does. He speaks and hears us speak. We can please Him or grieve Him or silence Him as we can any other person.”
John16:13-15
“However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come. He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and disclosing it to you. Everything that belongs to the Father is Mine.”
He takes what Jesus knows and tells us what we need to know, but we are not going to get this truth by spending a moment here and there with Him. We need to be in the Word and in Him daily being in a constant state of glory. Glory encompasses God’s Nature and Being. When we go from glory to glory, the word to is a constant transition. It does not stop, and neither should we in our going deeper with Him.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (Amplified)
“And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.”
As I was praying a few years ago, I found myself singing three Hebrew words — shelah, shiloh and selah. I then started singing, “Come to that place of peace and meditate on Me.”
As I sang them quietly, I started to sense the presence of the Lord’s peace and stillness in the room. When I looked deeper into the meaning of these words, I realized they were an invitation from the Lord to posture myself in prayer with Him. My hope is that you will be encouraged to find that place with Him next time you sit down to pray.
Shelah means to petition. Shiloh means a peaceful place and His gift, referring to Jesus. Selah means to pause, meditate, praise, and lift up.
Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Ephesians 6:18
“Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.”
Psalm 66:4
“All the Earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your Name. Selah”

ABOUT MARIE SCINTO
“You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in God’s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am God’s girl!
