ā€œYou’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness You follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With Your hand of love upon my life, You impart a blessing to me. You hem me in before and behind.ā€ Psalm 139:5 (TPT)

God is in your past, present, and future.

If you look beyond your current troubles and into your future with God, you can find a place of rest and comfort in the waiting. God knows your end from your beginning. Before He ever spoke Creation into existence, He saw your entire life with all your wrong choices and failures, and He made provisions for them all!Ā All the obstacles and setbacks that will ever get in your way; whether you caused them, or they came at you by happenstance, He provided a way to give you peace during the storm.

During your trials, it is your faith that connects you with these workings of God. He has pre-ordained good things for you, even amid your trials but you can tragically miss out on His plan by walking in unbelief.Ā Unbelief separates you from His good and perfect will and all the benefits that follow. We read in Scripture how God selected a generation to reap the rewards of His promise, but because of their unbelief they lost the benefits of His blessings.

ā€œSo, we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter His rest.ā€ Hebrews 3:19

Godā€™s rest in scripture encompasses everything that He has planned for us as children which are the things that He has pre-arranged both for this life and our eternal life. The metaphoric meaning for rest in Greek is the heavenly blessedness in which God dwells.Ā We are promised that His rest is still available to us, but we must be careful not to fall short of it.

ā€œFor as long, then, as that promise of resting in Him pulls us on to Godā€™s goal for us, we need to be careful that weā€™re not disqualified. We received the same promises as those people in the wilderness, but the promises didnā€™t do them a bit of good because they didnā€™t receive the promises with faith. If we believe, though, weā€™ll experience that state of resting. But not if we donā€™t have faith.ā€ Hebrews 4:1-2 (The Message)

Do not be part of that unbelieving generation who walked by sight instead of faith, who focused on the giants in the land instead of Godā€™s promises. Jesus warned us that we will run into trouble in this world; but to take heart, because He has overcome the world. We are also instructed not to be anxious or burdened and to give our encumbrances to Him. If you know anything about fuses, they blow when they are being overworked and past the capacity of the power they were designed to carry. If you are feeling overwhelmed by a circumstance, I can assure you that according to God’s infallible Word, you are holding on to a burden that is not yours to carry.

Take comfort next time you are going through the shadowy valley, or if you are in one right now that God is there with His Staff and Rod.Ā He promised that no temptation or trial will overtake you. You are more than a conqueror and can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You have been instructed to renew your mind to the Word of God so that you can recognize the warning signs. The minute you start to worry, fear or doubt and the burdens are heavy laden is the moment you should give it all over to Jesus.

You are NEVER alone when you have the Godhead dwelling inside of you. Jesus promised He would be with you until the end of the age. He will never leave nor forsake you and He is not a man that would lie, nor a human that would go back on His Word. What He said He would do, He will do. What He promised, will come to pass. The Fatherā€™s Word does not return to Him void and it will accomplish what He sent it out to do. The Holy Spirit will counsel, guide, and bring you peace to carry on with your day in the rest that God has promised to give you when going through a season of trials and darkness.

ā€œYea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.ā€ Psalms 23:4Ā

ā€œCome to Me,Ā all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,Ā for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.Ā For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.ā€ Matthew 11:28-30

ABOUT MARIE SCINTO

Marie Scinto
“You are Godā€™s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!ā€ Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in Godā€™s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am Godā€™s girl!
