“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
Submit: Put yourself under authority
Resist: Oppose
Flee: Avoid/Ignore
When you submit to God you are putting yourself under His authority. This means you are sending a clear message to Satan and his evil forces that you are now a force to be reckoned with against his kingdom of darkness.
Satan fears God. If you belong to God, he also fears you!
In 1 John 5:4-6, we read that every child of God overcomes the world by their victorious faith in Jesus. The Greek verb tense in the word overcome means to continually conquer the world. Yes — Believers are more than conquerors and have His Power in them to continually conqueror the enemy and his evil destructive plans.
“Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors and His demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything.” (Romans 8:37)
If you continually abide in the Secret Place of the Most High God and the devil tries to stand in your way, God’s Wrath will come upon him. Start and end each day praying Psalm 91 over your life. You must make it a priority to find time every day to be with God and grow in your faith. 2 Peter 1:3 says that God’s Divine Power has given us everything we need for a godly life and we have received it by coming to know Him. To know means a knowledge gained through first-hand relationship and is an intimate word in this Scripture. It means as we get to know God, our knowledge will increase in Him and we will then be able to share in His glorious victory over all things.
That is powerful Beloved!
2 Peter 1 continues in 5 – 8 with these instructions: “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Once you understand that abiding in the Secret Place of the Lord Most High gives you Power to resist the enemy, that knowledge will lead you deeper into the Father’s Goodness. With that, you need to make every effort to continue to deepen your knowledge of Him during your quiet times in prayer. Then, when the enemy tries to come back, you will be well-equipped because you took on these qualities from the Lord in increasing measure. You are now ready to be effective and productive against Satan and his evil kingdom! Your adversary now has no choice but to avoid you because you are indeed more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus!
“You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago.
