“You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for Me? We will do it together.” Song of Songs 2:15
I was reminded of this scripture last week when a fox wandered into our yard. The hedges around the back were so lush he couldn’t find a way out. He finally looked around and saw an opening made by some trees that had fallen during a storm and escaped. A fox in this month’s scripture verse symbolizes the issues that come with the storms of life that can threaten a healthy relationship by creating an opening for trouble. Song of Songs shows us how love is our greatest tool for cultivating a beautiful and lush relationship that’s impervious to the whirlwinds of life.
This book is for those of us who want more of God. It opens the eyes of our heart to see Jesus as our Bridegroom, and we, His Bride. We’re drawn to Him, because of Him. We recognize that it’s His Spirit, the Holy Spirit in us that’s drawing us near, which makes us rely that much more on Him for our spiritual growth. We don’t rely on sermons, preachers, or teachers — no, we rely on the Holy Spirit within us to draw near to Him. It teaches us about the importance of relationship and the unconditional love the Father has for us.
Please grasp this unfathomable truth about the Father’s love for you and in you. The only reason why you can love is because your Creator God loved you first. He draws you near to Him by constantly telling you how much He loves you. Unfortunately, the troubling foxes of life, especially these past two years, have caused our hearts to wither. Our hope has been deferred which has caused distractions that drown out His still small voice whispering, “I love you”. We are told in 1 John 4:18 that perfect love casts out all fear. In 2 Timothy 1:7, we read that God has not given us the spirit of fear; but a spirit of power, love, and peace.
Beloved, we need not fear. We can live in perfect peace because of what Jesus did for us on the Cross. Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” ~ John 16:33
Pray with me:
Creator God, I want to be Your child and I want You to be my Father. I want peace in my heart, and I want to catch the troubling foxes with You and remove them from my life. I acknowledge I am a sinner in need of a Savior, and I receive Jesus and His Spirit now into my life. I say yes to every promise You have offered me through Your Word. I now open my heart and ask You to pour out Your love over me. I will no longer be a friend to fear. I am a child of God. I now have the mind of Christ and will walk out the rest of my journey with You, My Father, in perfect peace. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
Tis Not that I did Choose Thee
‘Twas Thy grace in Christ that called me,
Taught my darkened heart and mind;
Else the world had yet enthralled me,
To Thy Heavenly glories blind.
Now my heart owns none above Thee;
For Thy grace alone I thirst,
Knowing well that, if I love Thee,
Thou, O Lord, didst love me first.

“You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in God’s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am God’s girl!
Thanks, Marie, for this powerful, welcoming reawakening..
