“Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. Come every day to Me and you will never be hungry. Believe in Me and you will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)

The word ‘bread’ in this scripture symbolizes all the sustenance God supplies to those that yield their lives to Jesus and live day-by-day in His perfect Will.

Believers from all denominations partake in this sacred, intimate exchange with the Lord called Communion. Communion uses bread as a symbol of the body of Jesus and wine as a symbol of His blood. It should be a very personal time of thanksgiving, reflection, repentance, healing and cleansing of your soul, which in turn, will feed your spirit and renew your walk with the Lord.

The Apostle Paul instructs us on how we should enter into this sacrament. He says, “Whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are retelling the story, proclaiming our Lord’s death until He comes. For this reason, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in the wrong spirit will be guilty of dishonoring the body and blood of the Lord. So let each individual first evaluate his own attitude and only then eat the bread and drink the cup.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-32

Years ago, I had an encounter with Jesus through a dream that I would like to share. I was walking through a very chaotic amusement park that made me feel lost and scared. I then found myself in an apartment as an actress playing out a battle scene. As I pointed my weapon out the window, I had enough of the fight and said, “I am done!” I threw the weapon out the window and walked over to the closet to grab my luggage. The floor was covered with baggage and I reached in and grabbed mine. I then immediately found myself sitting on a folding chair in the middle of an empty room with Jesus sitting knee to knee across from me. He was wearing a thick white robe and sandals. His hands and feet were large and strong. The right side of His face was ethereal, but His left side was flesh. The eye I saw, was an iridescent blue and there was an eternity within it which I cannot describe. He touched my lips with His right thumb, and I found myself chewing and swallowing a piece of bread. He then touched His robe with His right hand and a square piece of fabric materialized. He made a cup-shape with His left hand and with a magician-type move stuffed the fabric piece into it. He then took two fingers and dipped them into the cup pulling up slowly as it filled with a pink effervescent wine. He handed it to me, and I thought to myself, “This is going to taste so good!” After I drank it, there was a refreshing cool breeze in the room, and He disappeared. I immediately said, “Jesus I want to hug you!” I reached out my arms to Him and I hugged myself instead.

A hug is a form of physical intimacy. That dream was a perfect analogy to what intimately knowing Jesus in our spirit means and what happens in us when we partake rightly in Communion. It is a total peace in the storm. It is Shalom which is Hebrew for peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility. It is the Bread of Life that sustains us. God showed me through that dream that we can only find true peace in this chaotic world through communion with Jesus. When you receive Him, He dwells in you; and when you need a hug just look within yourself and embrace the Father’s Love.

ABOUT Marie Scinto

“You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in God’s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am God’s girl!
