“In kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past.” Psalm 139:5
It’s a Wonderful Life is a holiday movie about a man who has given up on his dreams to help others until a supernatural encounter with an Angel changes the perception and trajectory of his life. The one scene that has always stayed with me was when his daughter ZuZu, after some petals fell off of her rose, cried out, “Look Daddy! Paste it!”
Whenever I find myself in troubling situations, I always look to Heaven and cry out to Father God, “Paste it Daddy!” It just seems like the right thing to say and I honestly cannot remember a time when He has not in kindness cleaned up my mess!
A few years ago, I came across Psalm 139:5-6 that speaks right into this cry! It says, “You have gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness You follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With Your hand of love upon my life, You impart a blessing to me. This is just too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible! Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength.”
This scripture is a promise that the Lord will make a way for you in your times of trouble. He will go into your past to clean up your messes and go into your future to pave a path designed just for you! Yes friend, He is that kind, gracious, merciful and forgiving.
In fact, Psalm 32 shows us just how forgiving of a Father He is to those who make Him their Hiding Place.
“Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night Your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide my guilt I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Therefore, let all the godly pray to You while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. For You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.” Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord. So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey Him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!!”
Beloved, Jesus made a way for you to be able to go directly to the Father with ALL of your needs! This is why He came and a wonderful reason why to celebrate Him during the Christmas season. The Father has a plan, purpose and destiny for you and Jesus came to show you the Way.
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. For He has said, ‘I know the plans I have for you, they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ So we are now convinced that every detail of our lives are continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are His lovers who have been called to fulfill His designed purpose. It is the Lord who directs your life, for each step you take is ordained by God to bring you closer to your destiny.” (Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 9:6, Jerimiah 29:11, Romans 8:28, Proverbs 20:24)
If you have not received the gift of Jesus into your life, this would be a wonderful time to do it!
Dear Heavenly Father,
I’m sorry for the wrong things I’ve done. Please forgive me. I believe your Son died on the Cross for my sins and rose from the dead, and because of this I will enter into Heaven when I die. Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I willingly give you my life. Now, Father, help me do Your will. Thank you again for saving me! In Jesus name I pray.
Merry Christmas to all of my Poiema friends! May you experience a wonderful life in Christ as we continue this journey together and navigate our way through the rest of 2020 and into the New Year! It will get better. Get some rest. Daddy is going to paste it!
“You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in God’s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am God’s girl!
