"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.” Acts 1:8

Authority comes from God. Do you understand the authority you have? It is God’s gift to the Believer, and we should exercise it as Christ would, living victoriously in Him today! Jesus called us to be agents of change in this world. It is the Church's responsibility to enforce God’s goodness over the works of the devil. When you see dark forces moving, declare it in Jesus' Name; command the forces of evil to leave. God has not missed a moment of the battle we are fighting. He is with us to empower and help us stand firm to destroy the works of the enemy. Remind yourself that God is for you; you are found in Christ, and those who stand against you cannot compete with His power. So—command all spiritual forces of darkness to leave in Jesus Name. He is equipping you with all you need to walk in victory!

In Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for power in Acts 1:8 is dunamis, which means power through God’s ability. This kind of God-power gives Believers the ability they need to achieve results for Kingdom purposes. So, how does this power operate? Think of it like working out: it is not the equipment that makes you strong, but the power you put into it that achieves results. We are the equipment; when we are aligned with God's Spirit, He uses His power through us to activate our words.

In The Pursuit of God, A.W. Tozer explains how the Holy Spirit performs His blessed work through direct contact with the human spirit. His power is always above the method He uses to manifest it. Sometimes He uses a person, a sermon, a song, a good deed, a book, or even the mystery of nature itself. Yet it is never the thing or person that produces this power; it is the Holy Spirit.

To be used by God, we must be connected to His Spirit. We must ensure our equipment is in good working order—our spirits must be properly maintained and ready to be always used. If our spirits are not aligned with God’s Word, we will not be able to understand when He is speaking to us.

As Tozer noted, “I believe we should profit immensely were we to declare a period of silence and self-examination, during which each one of us searched his own heart and sought to meet every condition for a real baptism of Power from on high. We may be sure of one thing: that for our deep trouble, there is no cure apart from a visitation—yes, an invasion—of Power from above”

Ephesians 1:23 teaches us that the Church—comprised of all Believers—is the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way. Christ fills all things by asserting His authority over all things, filling them with His power, wisdom, and glory. This fullness with which Christ fills all things is the Church, and if you are a Believer, I’m talking to you!

Ephesians 1:20-21 tells us that Christ is seated far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Because we are His Body, Believers are seated with Him in that same heavenly position (Ephesians 2:6). Furthermore, Ephesians 6:12 indicates that the spiritual forces of evil are above us in the heavenly places. Since Christ is seated far above them, and His feet are on them, as His Body, a Believer's authority is also over them.

Believer, be an agent of change today.

You are filled with this power right now; use it to fight against the powers and principalities that are attacking you and your loved ones in Jesus’ Name!

Pray with me:

Heavenly Father,

I pray that you enlighten the eyes of my heart to fully grasp the hope of your calling and the immense riches of your glorious inheritance among the saints. Reveal to me the incomparable, surpassing greatness of your power available to us who believe—the same mighty strength you exerted when you raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at your right hand. Lord, I thank you that you have placed all things under Christ's feet, making Him head over everything for the Church, which is His Body. Help me to walk in that authority and power today, recognizing that He is above all rule and dominion, both now and forever. May I live fully in this truth. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

ABOUT MARIE SCINTO

Marie Scinto

"You are God’s girl and He loves you! You sprinkle His seeds of love wherever you go!” Those words were spoken to me by my husband Joe many years ago. They came at a time when I was questioning my self-worth in God’s Kingdom, purposes, and plans. The Father made sure that in my darkest spiritual hour, I heard His Truth about my identity and self-worth. It has been my passion ever since to deliver that same message to any who may need to hear it. It is not about who we are, but Whose we are, and I am God’s girl!
